Mbale Secondary school is located in Mbale City, it’s a mixed day school.
Young farmers club has been in existence for 9 years.
It was founded by Mr Wambya Godwin but currently under the control of Mr Angulo Tom as the patron.
The club’s motto is’FARMING IS HONORABLE”. We are privileged that the school has provided Young farmers Club with a garden which has helped us to exercise our leadership skills with hands on. As a club we came up with ideas to make the club more pronounced by printing club T- shirts so as to attract the attention of more students which was succeeded. We also managed to plant trees and flowers in the school compound as a way of conserving the environment.
On the other hand, we practiced poultry farming, vegetable growing like garden peas, kale within the school from which both the school and the society benefited.
As it’s said, good things come with risks and loses in order to learn from them, we faced challenges of limited water supply in dry seasons but we overcame by irrigation and pests and diseases were solved by spraying with pesticides. Once we harvested our produce, we looked for market in order to know the seller buyer language and the annual general meeting for parents and the school kitchen are our primary markets,
Feeding the world is a job that is never going to become absolete and it will always need more youths with innovative minds to join it.
